A friend of ours who works for a leading cultural think tank here in Los Angeles sent us a link to this blog out of NYC. We were instantly taken by the individualism, style and panache of “JKISSI” and “Trav” who run this site. We loved this photo but more so respected the nod to tradition and heritage that it represents. It seems the style ethos they are pushing is easily encapsulated within the frame of this photo.

GENTRY just finished up two days showing the new Hemingway Collection at (capsule) in Las Vegas. We want to thank all our friends, old and new, who gave us such amazing feedback on our new line. We particularly would like to thank Eugene Tong from Details, Jim Moore from GQ and David Lipke from WWD.
Depending on your general disposition and outlook on life, Sundays are primarily for:
A) Church
B) Brunch
C) Sleeping
Although we’re never one to pass up an opportunity to don Sunday’s Best, we generally skip A and go straight to B…and when there’s time slip in C.
One of the best locations for a Sunday brunch is Cecconi’s on Robertson and Melrose. With true European service, Cecconi’s serves up a simple yet impressive menu of breakfast basics amidst one of the most beautiful indoor/outdoor courtyards.
We had brunch with Warren Alfie Baker, a true English gentleman, who not only runs the showroom for Reiss, but also is the face of GENTRY. Over coffee and english breakfast tea, he gave us his thoughts on the new season in preparation for our trip to (capsule) next week. One can never overvalue the opinion of the London gentry.

For more than half a century, dating all the way back to 1947, the Kennedys have been the closest thing to American royalty this country ever had. With an almost uninterrupted reign of public service, the Kennedy name has become synonymous with American sophistication.
With the announcement today from Rhode Island Congressman Patrick Kennedy that he will not be running for re-election, this will be the first time in over a half a century that no Kennedy will be serving in public office. The son of the late Senator Edward Kennedy, the “Lion of the Senate,” this is truly a sad day in American politics.
We will miss the Kennedy name on Capitol Hill. We will miss their progressive, populist politics. We will miss their tireless work they’ve done on behalf of the common American citizen. We will miss that panache and effortless New England style they brought to a stoic and bland political landscape.
We would like to take a moment to pay homage and respect to one of our favorite designers of this decade., Alexander McQueen.
Alexander McQueen spent the early part of his career working on Savile Row before stints working under Koji Tatsuno and Romeo Gigli. He soon returned to attend London’s most prestigious fashion school, Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, eventually leading him to Givenchy then to his eponymous line he’s most commonly known for.
His lavish, unconventional runway shows were truly the work of a genius and will never be recreated.

With the 82nd installment of the Academy Awards just around the corner, we wanted to reflect on the golden era of Hollywood and the leading men who defined what it meant to truly own a red carpet.
During the 1940s and 1950s, Hollywood was an industry defined by class and tradition. Though men’s attire did not have as much versatility as it does today, the influence of the classic tuxedo and suit can still be seen today.
Take a stroll with us back to this golden era and visit the the men who defined this era and remember what it was like to be a leading gentleman of the big screen.

We are particularly affixing our gaze on the bikini lines. They’re reminiscent of pornography of the 1970s, admittedly a nostalgic era for us in this regard.

GENTRY Readying for (capsule) 02/13/2010 by Mr. Sato
That was 2 weeks ago.
Since then, we’ve been steadfastly working on our second season (sneak peak of the neckwear in the third picture) and on our display unit (sneak peak of the sketch in the first picture). It’s been a tight deadline but as of right now we’re looking to hit the mark.
We’ll be posting more sneak peaks of our new collection in the coming days so make sure to come back and preview what will be in stores early April.
